TherapyRoots does not independently verify background information or perform background checks on professionals listed on our site at this time. We ask that all users agree to accurately represent themselves on our website and we reserve the right to delete user accounts.

Your TherapyRoots profile allows you to select from a broad range of licenses. If you've already registered, please go to the "Edit Profile” link on the top right under your name and add your licenses from the pre-populated list. If there are any missing, please email us at [email protected].

TherapyRoots collects information you provide in the "My Profile” section. This includes professional information such as your career background and treatment specialties, and demographic information. We also collect usage information and to store some of your preferences, as further described in our Privacy Policy.

Many demographic fields, including career details, are optional; however, the TherapyRoots network will be more useful to you and your peers if you provide details regarding your background, experience, and expertise. We do not sell your personal data to third parties or advertisers, nor do we intend to going forward.

We protect the information on our site with industry standard technology and security. We are not a Covered Entity or Business Associate as defined by HIPAA, as we do not provide services directly to patients, nor do we access, store, or use protected health information or patient health information. As noted in our terms of use, users are prohibited from entering patient information on our website. We created TherapyRoots as a tool to facilitate networking between mental health professionals, not as a platform for sharing patient information. TherapyRoots provides users with a list of mental health professionals via email, text or printed form which can then be shared with a current or prospective patient outside of our website.

At this time, we do not sign Business Associate Agreements as our Terms of Use prohibit users from sharing patient information on our website.

At this time, TherapyRoots aims to be a networking tool for mental health professionals to connect with one another. Users can download a convenient list of referrals and therapist contact information to be printed, emailed, or downloaded and shared with patients outside our website. TherapyRoots is not intended to be a patient- or consumer-facing platform and we currently prohibit patient or consumer information from being shared on our platform.

We track referrals you send through our services, but we are currently unable to track if the potential client has contacted and met with one of the professionals on the list we provide. We are always looking to improve our product and hope to provide better tracking in the future. We encourage feedback from our users and welcome anecdotes of successful placements, provided that we ask you not to share any protected health information (as defined by HIPAA) with us.

TherapyRoots was created by a small team of mental health professionals, business professionals, and software engineers who all have personal experiences with the difficulties of finding the right mental health professional. We believe in using our technological and business expertise to make therapists' lives easier and we've invested our personal time and financial resources into building TherapyRoots. We have no plans to sell any of the information collected to advertisers and may eventually sustain the service by charging a subscription fee.
